EARLY 2005

CAVI Brands is founded

Candur Active Value Investments (CAVI Brands) was founded by Michael ten Hope and Mike PFAFF. In April, CAVI Brands acquired an interest in Permark International and recruited executive management.

2006

Incolabs is formed

The Innoxa business was acquired and merged with Permark International to create Incolabs. Licences for Kanebo and Imedeen were also awarded to CAVI Brands.

2007–2009

Flagship & prestige brands join

Dermalogica was acquired in conjunction with management, followed by the Nesti Dante licence. In 2009, Dermalogica launched Clean Start in South Africa, while CAVI Brands acquired an interest in Solal and was awarded the Molton Brown licence.

2010

PCG expands the portfolio

The Chanel licence was awarded to CAVI Brands, while PCG, a subsidiary of CAVI Brands, was awarded licences for Bvlgari, Hermès, Guerlain, La Prairie, Shiseido, Burberry, Elemis and Van Cleef & Arpels.

2011

2015–2016

Portfolio & campus growth

OPI joined the PCG portfolio in 2015. In 2016, all businesses were consolidated under one roof at the CAVI Campus in Parktown, Johannesburg.

2020

New businesses founded

ARC Store and PDS were founded, expanding CAVI Brands’ business portfolio.

2023

Dermalogica Joint Venture

The Unilever–CAVI Brands Dermalogica South Africa joint venture was approved and became effective on 1 October 2023.

2024 – 2025

Retail & portfolio expansion

The Fragrance Lounge launched at OR Tambo International Airport, while Sol de Janeiro and Drunk Elephant joined the PCG portfolio. CAVI Brands also acquired shares in Big Five Duty Free.

2026

Pulse Beauty Group joins CAVI Brands

Pulse Beauty Group becomes CAVI Brands’ newest business.
